Fuengirola Invites Bids to "Market" Its Innovative Indoor Construction

Fuengirola's "Market Marvel": A Whimsical Quest for the Perfect Indoor Haven

Prepare to be awestruck as Fuengirola sets the stage for a grand spectacle of architectural marvels! The town hall has unleashed a captivating challenge by inviting bids for the construction of the avant-garde Mercacentro covered market. With a staggering budget of 13 million euros and an estimated completion time of 18 months, this remarkable project promises to redefine the realm of indoor markets.

Nestled in the heart of the old market area on Avenida Alcalde Clemente Díaz Ruiz, this visionary masterpiece has been meticulously designed by the brilliant minds of Verdasco Arquitectos + González + Getinsa. Their ingenious plan encompasses the use of a cross laminated timber system (CLT), a green construction material that flaunts its eco-friendly prowess.

Brace yourself for a structure that transcends boundaries! Complying with European directives on sustainability, ecological quality, and energy efficiency, the new building aims for the prestigious A energy rating. It's destined to be a beacon of environmental responsibility, boasting the title of a nearly zero-emission building (NZEB).

Spread across a staggering 11,000 square meters, this magical realm will house a mesmerizing array of 39 market stalls within its main commercial area. But that's not all! Venture up to the first floor, and you'll discover a whimsical world of bars and restaurants, providing a delectable haven for gastronomic enthusiasts. And if you're seeking breath-taking views that will sweep you off your feet, ascend to the second floor, where a delightful roof-top terrace awaits, beckoning visitors to revel in panoramic splendour.

But who shall have the honour of transforming this dream into a tangible reality? The clock is ticking! Interested companies are cordially invited to take part in this enchanting endeavour by submitting their awe-inspiring proposals. Let the magic of creation unfold as the deadline for submissions approaches on Monday, 26th June.

Fuengirola's new indoor market is poised to become a testament to architectural wonder, blending innovation, sustainability, and a touch of whimsy. So fasten your seatbelts, for a captivating journey awaits within the halls of this "Market Marvel."
